Claude Duet Use Cases
Inbox and calendar
Triage, drafts, scheduling and meeting prep.
Small business ops
Invoices, payroll prep, orders and deadlines.
Reports and decks
Weekly reports, live dashboards and presentations.
Anthropic's own list of what Claude Duet can do is short: send morning briefs, flag inbox and calendar items, draft replies, find unpaid invoices, prepare payroll for review, and build briefs, decks or dashboards. That list is accurate but abstract. This page turns it into twelve concrete Claude Duet use cases, each with what you would say, what Duet does on its own, and what it brings back for your approval.
Every job here respects the agent's core rule: it can read, research, draft and build without asking, but sending, paying, signing and deleting always wait for you.

Claude Duet for your inbox and calendar
1. Morning inbox triage
You say: "Each morning, tell me which emails need me today and why." Duet reads overnight mail and puts the few that matter in your morning brief, ranked, with the rest left alone.
2. Reply drafts for routine email
You say: "Draft replies for scheduling questions and simple client requests." Duet writes them in your tone and holds each one behind a send button. You tap Send, edit, or tap Not now.
3. Meeting scheduling
You say: "Find an hour next week with Priya and Sam and propose it." Duet checks calendars, drafts the invite and asks before sending it. Anthropic lists scheduling meetings as one of the larger jobs Duet can take on.
4. Meeting prep packs
You say: "Before any external meeting, send me a one-page prep note." Duet pulls the last emails, open questions and relevant documents into a short brief ahead of time.
Claude Duet for small business operations
These are the Claude Duet use cases the launch video is built around: a coffee company owner whose agent watches point of sale, the online store, CRM, support, payroll and the bank.
5. Unpaid invoice follow-ups
You say: "Find invoices more than 14 days overdue and draft polite reminders." Duet cross-checks your accounting app and email, lists the overdue invoices, and prepares one reminder per client for approval.
6. Payroll prep for review
You say: "Prepare this period's payroll and flag anything unusual." Duet assembles the run and highlights changes such as new hires or overtime. The run itself is a payment, so it waits for you.
7. Order and customer issue watch
You say: "Tell me about failed orders, chargebacks and angry customers." Duet watches your store and support inbox and drafts replies for the easy cases, leaving refunds for your approval.
8. Permit, license and renewal deadlines
This is the use case Duet finds without being asked. In the demo it notices that a new location opens in 26 days without a health permit, drafts the application and asks the owner to pay when ready. Leases, insurance and domain renewals work the same way.
9. Hiring loop coordination
You say: "Collect the panel's notes on the three finalists when interviews end." Duet waits for the interviews, summarizes the notes and drafts the offer letter once you decide.
Claude Duet for reports, decks and dashboards
Anthropic's FAQ says Duet returns finished work as docs, sheets or decks. These Claude Duet use cases need no approval at all, because nothing leaves your accounts.
10. Weekly business report
You say: "Every Friday, summarize sales, costs and anything unusual this week." Duet pulls from your connected apps and posts a short report to the thread or your docs.
11. A daily dashboard
You say: "Build me a daily dashboard of sales, orders, open roles and churn." In the launch video the dashboard refreshes at 5:30 every morning so it is ready before the owner wakes up.
12. Board or client decks
You say: "Turn this month's numbers into a ten-slide update for the board." Duet builds the deck in the background and messages you when it is done. Sharing it outside your organization is up to you.
Copy-ready wording for all twelve is in the Claude Duet prompts library.
How to choose your first job to hand off
Twelve options is a lot for week one. Score each candidate on three questions and start with the one that wins.
- How often does it happen? Daily or weekly chores give the agent enough repetitions to learn your preferences quickly. A once-a-year task teaches it nothing.
- How easy is it to check? Pick work where you can tell at a glance whether the result is right, such as a list of overdue clients or a meeting time. Avoid anything where a subtle mistake would only surface weeks later.
- What does a mistake cost? A clumsy draft costs a minute of editing. A wrong figure in a board deck costs credibility. Start where errors are cheap.
For most people that points to inbox triage or reply drafts first, then scheduling, then one finance job. Reports and decks come last, once you trust how the agent reads your data. Keep a short note of what you handed off and when, so that if the brief or your usage changes you can trace it back to a specific handoff.
If you work in a team, ask before connecting shared business systems. A personal subscription is not the same as company approval, and the preview does not yet support Team or Enterprise workspaces.
Jobs Claude Duet is not good at yet
Knowing where the preview falls short saves you from handing off the wrong work. Anthropic itself says the agent can misread a thread and misjudge urgency, so keep a human eye on anything with real consequences.
Time-critical alerts
Duet checks in every few hours and can miss something that arrives in between. Do not use it as your only alarm for outages, security alerts or same-hour deadlines.
Unsupervised payments
Every payment waits for approval by design. If you want fully automatic bill pay, use your bank's tools; Duet is for preparing payments, not making them alone.
Work on files on your computer
Duet runs in the cloud and cannot reach local folders. For that, use Claude Cowork in the desktop app.
