Who can join the Claude Duet waitlist

Anthropic set three conditions for the preview. Check all three before you sign up, because a waitlist entry from an ineligible account will simply never turn into an invite.

US residents

The research preview is available in the United States only. Anthropic has not announced dates for other countries. Our Claude Duet availability page tracks expansion by country and plan.

Pro or Max plan

You need a Claude Pro or Max subscription. Free Claude accounts are not eligible. Duet has no separate price; once you are in, it shares the usage limits of your existing plan. See Claude Duet pricing for how that works.

Personal accounts only

Team and Enterprise plans are not included in the preview yet. If your Claude seat is provided by your employer, you cannot use it to join; a personal Pro or Max subscription is required.

How to join the Claude Duet waitlist step by step

The sign-up itself takes a couple of minutes. The waiting is the slow part.

1. Sign in on claude.com. Open the official Claude Duet page. Make sure you are signed in with the same Claude account that holds your Pro or Max subscription, not a second free account.
2. Submit. Select Join the waitlist. The button appears near the top of the page and again further down under "Join the waitlist".
3. Confirmation. You should see confirmation that you are on the list. Anthropic has not published how long the wait is or how invites are ordered, so there is no position number to check.

What a Claude Duet invite looks like

Anthropic has not documented the full invitation flow, and we will update this section as early users describe it. Here is what is confirmed.

Email

An invitation is required: as The Rundown's launch guide puts it, opening a normal Claude chat does not establish access. Watch the inbox attached to your Claude account.

Opening the app

Once invited, you can use Claude Duet in three places: the standalone iPhone app, the Android app, or claude.ai in a desktop browser. Sign in with the invited account.

First message

There is no setup wizard. Your memory, skills and connected apps carry over, so the agent can start working from the first message. Our how to use Claude Duet guide has a first-week plan.

Get ready for Claude Duet while you wait

Because Duet inherits your Claude account, the best preparation happens in the Claude app you already have.

Clean up memory

Open your Claude memory settings and remove anything stale. A proactive agent acts on what it believes about you; an outdated job title or old project will shape what it flags.

Connect apps in Claude

Connect the accounts you want Duet to watch, such as Gmail, Google Calendar or Slack, and check the permissions each one asks for. The connectors guide explains what Duet can do in each.

Pick a first task

Write down one recurring chore you would happily hand off, such as a weekly sales summary or chasing unpaid invoices. Starting with one clear job beats connecting everything at once.

Decide what it should never touch

Make a short list of accounts, threads or people the agent should leave alone, for example a shared legal inbox or a family calendar. You can tell Duet this in plain language in your first message. Sensitive actions such as sending, paying, signing and deleting always need your approval anyway, but narrowing what it reads keeps the morning brief focused and uses less of your plan's usage.

Claude Duet waitlist myths

Paying more doesn't skip the line

Both Pro and Max are eligible, and Anthropic has not said Max members are invited first. Upgrading just to move up the waitlist is not a strategy we can recommend.

Chatting doesn't unlock it

Using Claude more, or asking Claude about Duet, has no effect on access. Neither do third-party "invite codes" or referral links; there is no official invite-sharing program, so treat anyone selling access as a scam.
